In order to program or reset a Cisco device, a Cisco console cable will be required. A console cable, also known as a rollover cable, allows a PC to connect to a Cisco router, switch, firewall, or other device using the PC serial port. The Cisco router has an RJ45 female jack to accept the opposite end of the console cable. Once the physical connection is established, you'll need to use a program like Hyperterminal to make the connection complete.
